NRSP Strategy
Introduction
NRSP’s purpose was ‘to deliver new knowledge that enables poor people who are largely dependent on the NR-base to improve their livelihoods’. To achieve this, NRSP focused on knowledge generation (research) on what changes – bio-physical, economic, institutional and social - in the management of the NR-base could enhance and sustain the livelihoods of the poor. It developed its strategy to support this.
Evolution of the research strategy
As NRSP management assimilated the lessons from its monitoring and review of project implementation, and responded to external changes (e.g. priority and policy shifts), it refined key aspects of its strategy. As a result, three separate but evolving phases can be distinguished within its eleven years, with each phase characterized by a specific emphasis within the NRSP strategy . These phases are described in the linked pages following.
